Utility Services
Overview
In addition to the primary services offered by xOTA, several utility services are available. These are typically used in specialized scenarios or can assist with troubleshooting.
Ping
Primarily used to verify connectivity, the ping command sends a quick request to xOTA via SMS or email. If the message is received and your device is verified, xOTA will respond with a simple reply:
pong
Some email providers, such as WinLink, enforce strict whitelisting rules. In many cases, these services require you to send an outbound message before you are allowed to receive messages. The ping command is one example use case for initiating that outbound message.
Verify
When configuring a new SMS device, you will be sent an SMS message asking you to verify your device. Simply send back a verification message to complete the process:
verify
If this command is issued outside the context of verifying a new SMS device, it will be igored and not responded to.
